Pesticide Safety Checklist for Property Owners
A simple checklist to help property owners understand safe pesticide treatment during landscape maintenance.

Before pesticide treatment, property owners should know what is being applied, why it is needed and how to keep the area safe.
Good pesticide work is not about spraying more. It is about applying the right treatment, at the right time, in the right amount.
Before approving treatment
- Has the pest or disease been identified?
- Is pesticide treatment really necessary?
- Is the product suitable for the plant and location?
- Will the treatment be done during suitable weather?
- Are people, children and pets kept away from the area?
- Are drains, ponds and water features protected?
- Is the landscape team using proper safety gear?
- Is there a follow-up inspection after treatment?
After treatment
- Avoid touching treated plants until the advised waiting period has passed
- Keep children and pets away until the area is safe to re-enter
- Watch whether the plant improves or continues to decline
- Ask for the product name and treatment date for your records
- Continue normal care only when it is safe and suitable
For homes and commercial properties, responsible pesticide use protects plant health while reducing unnecessary exposure to chemicals.
